Posts: 1715 08/18/09 05:20:43 The Justine Ferrer of SPS	Tags : None i just needed to jumpstart this thread again :) i think the show is a bit faster in pace compared to season 1's very disappointing pilot. i found myself satisfied with the episode, AND THE CASTAWAYS AS WELL. mactors or not some people are already playing at DAY 1. good job for exceeding low expectations... we'll see in the following days if the castaways follow through. my tribal impressions: KOROR - louie, echo, charles, justine, carol, marvin, tara, suzuki got the losing end of the tribal pick-em up. they got the weaker girls plus isang lampang nagpagbibintangan pang bading. i could see them going on a losing streak. and one pair had already formed an alliance. EPISODE 1 was basically koror-centric. it can be a bad thing for we could find our first boot at koror, or maybe we will have a future winner amongst them. LOUIE- we know this guy is a schemer. he doesnt put himself out as the leader type but expect this guy to lead the strategy talks. too bad i feel tht his tribe will be in the minority come merge.. UNLESS a tribal swap happens (which i think would happen after paolo said that there will be lots of twists). his early alliance with marvin had been highlighted so for sure it will come to play MARVIN- atleast this guy aint boring like Jzzzz. we will see him hide behind the more intimidating louie. ECHO- basing on first impressions, i love her already. i think she is cutthroat enough to think of herself before others. i think she is socially adept. i see here going a long way (unless a tribal swap). SUZUKI- he is just there to ride along louie and marvin's tails. he will be expendable. i dont see him fighting for his life in the game. and his loss of accent makes me doubt him. faker? JUSTINE- is 10000000X more entertaining than that snorlax girl in season 1 which i forgot the name already. this girl can be mean and can be catty. i like that. she will say what she has to say. she will not be able to control her mouth. and i think she will be a player in this game.... her petty scream-match with carol was fun to watch, because mainly, she has a point CAROL- lebrab shoving down to our throats "mommy carol"? she aint that caring mommy at all. all i saw was the typical grade school teacher that she is. di mga batang pwedeng utus-utusan alng ang mga kasama mo sa tribo. marvin justine tara and louie clearly wasnt that fond of her. expect her to be gone this week or the next. she doesnt have the charisma of the equally annoying sandy and sylvia. TARA- why do i feel that she's outside the majority again? unless she sucks up to the power duo, justine and echo will clearly outplay her. too bad i can see she has the entertainment potential chev has, but she again would be gone too soon for us to appreciate her. i feel bad. CHARLES- did i just here him scream like a gay guy? he obviously aint physical. kaya pala sya ang pinakahuling napili. he is already targetted by Marvin. why was he targetted this early? and the girls outed him already! and for some reason, his tiny voice doesnt match his face. lebrab said to watch the pilot episode to find out if any of the castmember is gae... well maybe it was charles he was talking about.. my koror prediction: marvin louie echo and justine forms an alliance. the group will boot carol, then tara or suzuki AIRA- mika chris amanda jeff vlad shawn troy maya obviously the more organized and stronger group. the girls proved to be an asset. some respect had already been formed towards some people. they are mainly positive people. i clearly love this tribe more than the other, though they are a bit underedited last night because of their lack of drama and their greatness MIKA- i guess we have a winner :D she will be this silent schemer type. she is in it to win it. lookin out for this girl to win it all CHRIS- a less appealing rupert. he appears to be a gentle giant that will be a team player, but will be cut off first when his alliance eats itself AMANDA- got lot of exfosure today... but not a winners edit. most probably an early aira boot. unless a girl's alliance happens (which is possible because we have definite girl players here in this tribe) JEFF- havent seen her much or remeber her that much, but she exceed my low expectations of her as a character. its either i mistook her for justine, or she will be just as feisty as her. will be watching out for her though, because i could see her as a definite player VLAD- vlad who? was he the model? sya ba yung nagsabing he respects maya's silent leadership? SHAWN- see above TROY- the guys in airai were definitely underedited today. i havent made any good assumptions of them. we will see in the future episodes. MAYA- this is the kind of leader that is appreciated by the tribe. she does not impose herself to be one, but her silent leadership quality had earned her her other tribemate's respects. i see the rest of her tribemates battling it out to have her on their side. i hope she reaches the finals because i like her character DEFINITELY a B, this pilot episode is. we got to see Koror's tribal dynamics already, and AIRA's awesomeness. and less LEBRAB shouting and narrating NOT SAFE: Carol and Amanda Last Edited By: aaronfyre 08/29/09 20:24:21. I mean, pretty much anything would have been better than like 30 minutes of "marooning" the castaways as they swam for their life to get to the shore. So far, all of them are likable (yes, even Carol and Justin, at least in my opinion b/c they were both so laffos <3) which I think is a good edit because it allows people to pick their favorites based on attitude and not just on looks. It's going to be interesting how editing is going to turn on certain characters and cast them on a bad light, and even favor some and cast them on a good one.

Posts: 1715 08/18/09 23:27:37 The Justine Ferrer of SPS	editing has already painted a castaway as unlikable as AIRAI finally shows its tribal dynamics. meanwhile the ragtag KOROR continues to suck big time as a team as some of its members shows physical and social weakness KOROR CAROL continues to act as the authority figure when in fact no one respects her... or maybe CHARLES does, but since theyre both in the outside lookin in, i dont think it matters at all. CHARLES does not help himself either by isolating himself that much from the group. i appreciate that he is not probably a recruit, but he isnt "cool" enough for the majority clique MARVIN however finds himself a familiar personality through TARA's quirkiness. will we come to see this relationship blossom into an alliance in the future? i love it that im seeing that TARA will last a bit longer than i was expecting. baring twists. di na ako magbibitiw ng salita starting today JUSTINE proves she has the survival know-how by showing the guys how to make fire. or was it ECHO? i am glad those who i had not expected much pregame is proving me wrong and delivering. JUSTINE talking to SUZUKI in japanese..? would that conversation be a precursor for future strategic hookups...? so far, i wouldnt want to assume who allies with whom, but we know that LOUIE is with MARVIN. both of them wants SUZUKI as third. SUZUKI kas a jap connection with JUSTINE. and MARVIN likes TARA's personality. AIRAI bad editing had started to come to play as TROY was shown to be a bit too touchy with the women, particularly my bet to win this thing, MIKA. AMANDA is apparently disgusted as well by the "maniac" behavior of our mentalist. TROY would pretty much cime up as a target in airai's first TC hike TROY also found MAYA demanding and bossy after a buko incident. it wasnt highlighted that much, so i doubt it would be MAYA going home if ever they lose. i also doubt the gentle giant CRIS would vote against the equally gentle MAYA. CRIS so far had not been given any game-related confessional, so i think he'd be lasting some more. there was also a lack of MAYA confessional. if by tomorrow and thursday we see a sudden spike in MAYA exfosure, i would be worried. but this episode proves that a vote in the future will be MAYA against TROY, as was proven by the pregame spoilers. SHAWN who? he was just there... standing. so far so good. I AM THOROUGHLY PLEASED WITH THE CASTING. as i said before, i dont mind mactors as long as they bring strategy and entertainment. i have to say GOODJOB for the mactor casting. atleast you chose the right kind. an A- for this episode over-all

I think that the "swim-for-your-life" scene in the pilot of SP1 showed us a lot already about the CAs. We were able to see the physically dominant CAs who didn't have any problem swimming to the shore (Jace reaching the shore first), we saw who amongst them leaders (Kiko and Gigit deciding to help and 'save' other CAs other struggling to swim), and most importantly, it gave us a preview of who will later be the bad boy Marlon (deciding to leave behind the group of CAs who helped him reach the shore so he can assure himself of a slot in the game). And there was no editing trick to paint someone bad or good. As far as the RCs are concerned, Season 2's first RC I believe is pretty much a rip-off of Season 1's first RC. The only main difference is what they were carrying around. Much as I want to look beyond the "Wish-ko-Lang" inspired intro of the pilot, it's hard for me to ignore how GMA has glamorized and bastardized this pilot episode. I miss the "rawness" of Season 1. As far as the characters are involved, yes they seem more interesting now...mas mukhang palaban...but on the back of my mind, I can't disregard the thought na kasi they've seen how the game should be played. I really thought they were acting more than just being natural. I will say that I'm being premature about my thoughts since I've only seen the Pilot Episode...haven't seen Ep2 yet. My mind is clouded by all the press releases, the photo opps, the tv guestings and the sexy plugs. I'm telling myself to immerse myself more on the game and forget all the hype about the characters. I just hope I won't be disappointed. But then again, this is just my opinion.

Tapos yung interpersonal dynamics during that swim, wala rin naman masyadong gameplay effect kasi di naman nila katribo yung kalahati nung ibang players dun...basta makaabot sa beack ok na. I mean, a schoolyard pick right after that swim would have been better instead of a predetermined tribal division...kasi na-expose na ang physical endurance nila and attitude under duress. Also parang dinadaan nila ngayon sa quality instead of quantity yung twists nila. Last season, unang araw pa lang sandamakmak na aang twist, na-dilute tuloy yung supposed game impact nila. Imagine: Lalangoy kayo - Gender tribes - RC agad - Nakatali ang matatalo - Tribe shuffle. Ngayon the schoolyard pick - clothes on your back - RC agad. Kung tutuusin di na nga rin twist yung RC agad e. Oh finally, the 1st challenge was also nice, reminiscent nung Guatemala trek kahit fractional lang ang length nun. At least yung interpersonal dynamics mas may game impact dahil magkakatribe na ang magkasama. May scheming na ngang nangyari agad which is good. Tapos, mas forgivable ang commercial breaks dito kasi sadyang mahaba naman ang challenge di tulad nung last year na sobrang pinahaba ang pagpapalabas e sa isang stretch ng beach lang naman yung buong challenge na yun!

While you may argue that it showed some of their personalities, that was like four people out of eighteen, and it ate up what, like the whole hour? This season's pilot painted over half of the cast's personality already, with minimal editing effort.

Posts: 273 08/19/09 19:33:09 No more chanting, I promise.	The "water scene" on the Pilot of SP1 painted to me a nice picture of the players of the game. It was bit long, yes. But those 'dragging' moments revealed to me personalities that later on will be crucial in the game. I mentioned 4 of them notably - others I considered coat-tail riders, wall flowers, and potential game-movers. I must admit I was wrong on some of my presumptions - like I didn't see JC going far, thought he was too pa-conio, maarte and lampa...of course this is before the spoiler. Moving forward to the rest of SP1, the moments you may have considered dragging and corny, to me , actually added more local flavor to the game of Survivor. The CAs playing in the rain, acting out as queers in a beauty pageant, teasing each other and playing match-up with people, getting senti with missed family members, cooking for each other, a mother-figure who washes your clothes - so Pinoy, so unique. And this uniqueness is what made SP special and apart (but not necessarily better) from the original and other versions of Survivor. Now, my beef for SP-Palau aka SP 2, is that "trick" editing may be playing a big part in painting out the characters of this season. I know it's just 2 episodes but with what Ive seen so far, I feel like the scenes are "portrayed" too much, and the CAs are more "acting out their parts" as opposed to just playing their natural selves. I am already clouded with all the glams and hype that the network has injected in the show. I hate that they glamourized SP so much this season - compared to the rawness of SP1. And this is where I'm coming from. I am trying now to focus on the game and see how it will develop together with players into a more interesting, bigger and better SP season. I am hopeful that SP2 will live up to its hype. 'Cause SP1 definitely did it.
